Needless to say, it’s been a rough several weeks for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Following their nightmare performance in last month’s Super Bowl, they haven’t been as active in free agency as some Chiefs fans would have hoped.
While you would have to be a fool to write-off Patrick Mahomes and company going forward, there’s no denying that Kansas City’s mystique and aura took a major hit with their no-show performance against the Philadelphia Eagles.
As the Chiefs prepare to turn the page and get things back on track, the organization is undergoing a dramatic transformation. However, it has nothing to do with the actual team.
As it turns out, the Chiefs cheerleaders are facing a significant offseason shake-up, with nine veteran members officially retiring from the squad.
While the on-field core remains mostly intact – with Mahomes returning under center and Travis Kelce confirming at least one more season – Kansas City’s iconic cheerleading squad will be nearly unrecognizable next season.
In a heartfelt message posted to social media, the Chiefs organization paid tribute to the departing dancers.
“Before auditions kick off, we want to recognize the 9 incredible veterans retiring this season! Thank you all for your commitment, kindness, talent, and passion over the years ✨ We love each one of you and can’t wait to see what your next chapters hold ❤️,” the team announced.
The retiring cheerleaders – Ashton, Carly, Cassidy, Grace, Gracie, Jordan, Marlee, Reagan, and RyleeKate – leave behind a legacy of spirit, strength, and community presence.
With auditions for the 2025 Chiefs cheerleading team already underway, the franchise now begins the process of reloading its spirit squad, just as it does its roster.
As the Chiefs aim to reclaim the Lombardi Trophy, a new generation of cheerleaders will take the sidelines – ready to uphold tradition while bringing fresh energy to Arrowhead Stadium.
While the retiring cheerleaders will certainly be missed, we all know the players on the field are what matter most.
What are your thoughts on the Chiefs heading into next season? … Will they be able to bounce-back and remove the stink from last month’s Super Bowl???
