Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill stirred questions about his future with the team after the season finale, but on Wednesday, he made clear that his focus is now on earning back the Dolphins’ confidence.
After the Dolphins’ 32-20 loss to the Jets, which sealed a losing season, Hill’s blunt declaration, “I’m out,” sparked doubt about his commitment to Miami.
He later clarified that his words were fueled by frustration during a challenging year, which included a wrist injury and his lowest per-game production since his rookie year.
Hill underwent surgery to repair his wrist and told reporters on Wednesday that he’s experiencing “zero pain” now. He emphasized that his late-season comments do not reflect a lack of dedication to the team’s goals.
“Every day I’m trying to prove myself as one of those guys this team can depend on in crucial moments,” Hill said.
“It was tough. Emotions were high then. At the end of the day, I’m just looking to move forward from that. Hoping that I can prove myself and prove to my teammates that I’m still one of those ones.”
As Miami enters head coach Mike McDaniel’s fourth season, the Dolphins need to show they are progressing, and a strong comeback from Hill could be a key factor.
Hill has made statements similar to this before, only to end up taking a step back. We’ll see if things are different this time around.
What are your thoughts on Hill’s comments? … Can McDaniel and the Dolphins truly trust him going forward???
