Tom Brady Admits Heartbreaking Mistake That Haunts Him

In recent years, NFL legend Tom Brady has opened up more than ever, showing a side of him beyond the football field.

After his retirement in 2023, the three-time NFL MVP has made it clear how much his role as a father means to him.

His relationship with his children is at the center of his world.

In a recent conversation on Logan Paul’s podcast, IMPAULSIVE, Brady discussed the impact that his Netflix special, The Roast of Tom Brady, had on his family.

As hilarious as the roast was, Brady revealed that his family was deeply hurt by some of the jokes that were thrown their way.

When asked by Paul if he regretted participating in the roast, Brady admitted that he did have one major regret.

While the event was a major hit with audiences and a fun experience for him personally, it wasn’t without consequences for his children.

“It’s tough on my kids for sure,” Brady said. “I love laughing at myself, it felt like I was in the locker room…but I do understand like for my kids that was really hard.”

The roast, which saw an all-star lineup of comedians poking fun at Brady, offered a lighthearted atmosphere for many – but for the Brady family, it was an entirely different experience.

The legendary quarterback, known for his steadfast focus on privacy throughout his Hall of Fame career, reflected on how things changed after his retirement, leading to his decision to publicly share more of his life.

Brady’s honesty about fatherhood took center stage when he admitted to Paul, a new father himself, that sometimes, as a parent, you don’t realize the full impact of your decisions until later.

“There’s some things as a parent that you f*ck up and you don’t realize until after,” Brady said. “You’ll see as you grow up, there’s no perfect manual for it and you got to evaluate yourself as a parent, too, all the time.”

Despite the personal challenge, Brady did not regret the event itself.

“It was electric, it was crazy,” he said. “We got done, everybody was on cloud nine. I think that moment, I’ll never forget.”

While the roast was widely celebrated and seen as a major success, Brady’s children were not as enthusiastic about the experience.

The emotional weight of the night was evident when Brady recalled how his kids reacted.

“I felt like, a stake through the heart,” Brady said. “They’re protective, of their mom, of their dad and asked, ‘What was the point of that, why would you do that?’”

The night’s humor, while intended to entertain, did not sit well with his children.

Comedians, including host Kevin Hart, made pointed jokes about Brady’s ex-wife, supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

“Gisele gave you an ultimatum… She said you retire, or we’re done. When you got a chance to go 8-9 and all it will cost you is your wife and your kids, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do,” Hart joked.

The remarks stirred emotions, and Brady’s kids were clearly upset, especially as the jokes involved personal aspects of their lives.

Fans, who watched the roast unfold, also noticed Brady’s mixed reactions, with some even speculating that he was regretting the experience in real-time, pointing to his expression during the show.

Despite the difficult moments, Brady seems to view the roast as both a success and a valuable learning experience.

As a father, he acknowledges the complexity of balancing personal and professional life – and how important it is to continuously grow and learn from mistakes.
