A new debate is heating up in NFL circles, and it’s all about fan bases. This conversation ignited thanks to a ranking by the popular aggregator account @JPAFootball on social media platform X, which shared a fan base tier list from @Diazenlanfl. The rankings break down all 32 teams’ fan followings in a five-tier system that’s sure to stir up some passionate responses.

At the top of the list are the fan bases celebrated as “The Best Fans,” including the Detroit Lions, Minnesota Vikings, Buffalo Bills, Green Bay Packers, and Seattle Seahawks. These teams have loyal supporters who show up week after week, creating an electric atmosphere whether at home or on the road.

But it’s at the bottom of the list where the real excitement – and debate – lurks. Here, we find the “Non-Existent” fan base tier, reserved for teams that some argue could use a little extra enthusiasm from their supporters. This tier includes the Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Washington Commanders, and Carolina Panthers.

Just above them, the “Insufferable” fan base tier features the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Philadelphia Eagles, New England Patriots, and Kansas City Chiefs. These franchises are often at the center of high expectations and are frequently discussed both for their legacies and their fan reactions.

Of course, with a list like this, it’s no surprise that fans are jumping into the conversation. Responses have ranged from passionate arguments about which teams belong where to humorous commentary about fellow supporters. One particularly vocal Packers fan proposed that the Vikings should be slotted in the “Insufferable” category due to the perennial optimism of their fans.

Meanwhile, a Rams fan expressed relief at not being categorized as “Non-Existent” and pointed out how many true Rams fans show up at games, unlike some other teams’ fan bases that struggle to fill their stadiums as frequently.

Others chimed in with their own takes, like a Jets fan who argued for placing his team at the top due to their enduring support despite years of challenges. Another voice on social media echoed that the assessment of Commanders fans fell short, asserting they are incredibly dedicated and deserve recognition in a higher tier.

With fan bases as varied as the NFL teams themselves, this kind of discussion can serve as a true barometer of the passion that surrounds football. Whether it’s tongue-in-cheek commentary or serious debate, the loyalty of fans is a critical part of what makes the NFL so special.
