New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr is setting the record straight when it comes to his shoulder injury. Recently, during a guest sermon at Church LV in Las Vegas, Carr confirmed that he has been in regular contact with the team about his shoulder, which had been a topic of speculation since early April.

The quarterback took issue with how the media and social networks have portrayed his situation, indicating there had been misinformation swirling around. “I’ve got an MRI report to prove it. The team knows about it; we’ve been in constant communication,” Carr stated, emphasizing that while they are addressing the issue, there’s nothing to worry about. “There’s nothing wrong, we’re figuring it out, and we’re gonna go forward with that.”

Despite not attending the Saints’ facility since the offseason program commenced, Carr made it clear that he had plans to visit New Orleans with his wife, Heather. Those plans, however, changed due to personal circumstances, including Heather’s health complications and a miscarriage they experienced earlier in the offseason.

Carr’s comments underscore a broader message about compassion. He urged people to refrain from quick judgments: “Let’s be people that don’t judge and point out and just think the worst when you don’t really know what people are going through, Amen? We’ve been taking care of our family, and when it comes down to it, it’s faith, family, football, and that order isn’t changing, no matter the circumstances.”

His acknowledgment of the injury follows shortly after the Saints used their second-round draft pick to select quarterback Tyler Shough. Saints general manager Mickey Loomis mentioned that “it’s going to be a competition” regarding Shough’s position, but when pressed on whether that competition would include a fully healthy Carr, Loomis reiterated the team’s commitment to Carr as the starting quarterback, reaffirming his status amidst the uncertainty.

As the offseason unfolds, all eyes will be on Carr, not just to see how he recovers but also how he leads this evolving Saints team in the upcoming season.
