Cowboys Legend Admits He’s Disgusted By Eagles Fans

Former Dallas Cowboys running back and Pro Football Hall of Famer Emmitt Smith is fed up with the recent success of the Philadelphia Eagles, especially the loud fan base that has followed their rise.

In the past eight seasons, the Eagles have established themselves as one of the NFL’s top teams, appearing in the playoffs seven times, capturing three NFC titles, reaching three Super Bowls, and winning two Lombardi Trophies.

This success has only intensified the heated rivalry between Philadelphia and Dallas.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys have struggled to find postseason success. Since 1997, they’ve won just five playoff games, with an overall playoff record of 5-13 since 1996.

Dallas has not seen an NFC Championship Game appearance in nearly three decades, with the last coming in the 1995 NFL season, a time when legends like Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin, Leon Lett, Deion Sanders, and Emmitt Smith were still on the roster.

Reflecting on Dallas’ ongoing struggles, Smith didn’t hold back during a recent interview on Dallas sports talk radio station 96.7 FM The Ticket.

“I’m sick of it,” Smith admitted. “We have allowed others to nitpick at the star and make fun of the star and make fun of the star and that’s what happens – now all of a sudden over the last 20 years, (the Eagles) win two Super Bowls and they think they’re the best thing on the planet, and everywhere I go I hear, ‘Go Birds.’

“I’m sick of hearing, ‘Go Birds.’ I’m always asking where are you going? You still got a long way to go to get to us.

“That part bugs me, it bugs me because in my heart I truly believe our organization should be contending for an NFC Championship and even a Super Bowl at least once or twice every decade because every team recycles every decade. For us not to be there over the last 30 years is a crying shame.”

For Smith, the Cowboys’ prolonged lack of success has been particularly painful.

After spending 15 seasons in Dallas, earning eight Pro Bowl selections, and four first-team All-Pro honors, including a 1993 MVP award, Smith is still waiting for the team to reclaim the glory days of his playing career.

As the Cowboys remain stuck in a frustrating playoff drought, Smith’s comments reflect a deep frustration that many Cowboys fans share.

The road to redemption for “America’s Team” continues to be elusive, especially as the Eagles’ newfound success only highlights the disparity between the two rivals.

While Emmitt Smith’s legacy in Dallas remains untouchable, it’s clear that the frustration over the team’s current trajectory has become impossible to ignore.

And Philadelphia possibly being on the verge of an all-out dynasty only adds fuel to the frustration.

What are your thoughts on Smith’s comments? … What does Jerry Jones and the Cowboys need to do to get things turned around once and for all???
