Excitement is building as we are just over a week away from the start of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Currently, the Tennessee Titans are positioned to make the first overall pick, and according to virtually all draft gurus, they are expected to select Miami quarterback Cam Ward.
Ward had a stellar 2024 season, passing for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions, all while completing 67.2% of his attempts.
His performance helped lead the Hurricanes to a 10-3 record, their first 10-win season since 2017 and only their second in over two decades.
Despite his remarkable season and Miami’s impressive performance, not everyone is convinced that Ward should go first overall.
David Pollack, the former Georgia Bulldog superstar and current college football analyst, made his position clear during a recent episode of his podcast, See Ball, Get Ball.
“I wouldn’t take him (No.) 1 … I wouldn’t,” Pollack bluntly stated.
Pollack’s sentiments are not a one-off.
He has long been an advocate for Penn State edge rusher Abdul Carter, who he believes should be the top pick in the draft. Pollack’s stance is unwavering, and he has continually emphasized that Carter is the clear choice for the Titans.
Carter had an outstanding 2024 season, racking up 68 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and 12 sacks.
ESPN has named him the top prospect in this year’s draft class, and several draft experts have also praised Carter’s abilities, specifically his exceptional pass-rushing skills and elite quickness off the line.
While there are some injury concerns, most talent evaluators believe that Carter has All-Pro potential.
Despite Pollack’s confident assessment, it would be a shock if the Titans drafted Carter with the No. 1 overall pick.
Of course, crazy things happen come draft time – but Tennessee is widely expected to select Ward shortly after 8pm EST next Thursday evening.
What are your thoughts on Pollack’s comments? … Is Carter truly the best overall player in the entire draft???
