Ravens To Reset QB Market With New Lamar Jackson Extension

Since entering the NFL, Lamar Jackson has cemented his place as one of the most influential players in Baltimore Ravens history.

While the two-time MVP has yet to lead the team to a Super Bowl, Jackson’s commitment to the franchise remains unwavering.

The 28-year-old Jackson signed a five-year, $260 million contract extension with Baltimore in 2023, ensuring his presence through at least the 2027 season.

However, head coach John Harbaugh recently revealed that the organization has already begun discussing a longer-term future with their star quarterback.

Speaking at the NFL’s Annual League Meeting, Harbaugh acknowledged that conversations about another Jackson extension have taken place within the Ravens’ front office.

“There’s been conversations about that internally, I know,” Harbaugh revealed. “How far along that is or whatever, I don’t know. I definitely think it’s an obvious point … that’s going to continue to have to be addressed, really with all those guys.

“You just kinda manage that dance, the salary cap dance, and Lamar is the main part of that because he’s the franchise player. That’s a possibility, I think. Sooner or later, definitely is gonna have to happen.”

While there’s no immediate urgency to restructure Jackson’s deal, the Ravens are well aware of the rapidly evolving quarterback market. As more signal-callers ink record-breaking contracts, the price for securing an elite quarterback only continues to rise.

Jackson’s current contract remains one of the most lucrative in NFL history, but the financial implications grow steeper in the coming years.

In 2025, he is set to earn a base salary of $20.25 million with a cap hit of $43.5 million. However, that number skyrockets in 2026, when Jackson’s base salary jumps to $51.25 million and his cap hit reaches a staggering $74.5 million.

If the Ravens hope to maintain roster flexibility while keeping Jackson in Baltimore for the long haul, a contract restructuring or new extension could soon become a priority.

Despite his MVP accolades and on-field success, Jackson isn’t currently at the very top of the quarterback salary rankings.

Here’s how his $52 million annual salary compares to the league’s top-paid quarterbacks…

-Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys (60M)
-Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills (55M)
-Joe Burrow – Cincinnati Bengals (55M)
-Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars (55M)
-Jordan Love – Green Bay Packers (55M)
-Tua Tagovailoa – Miami Dolphins (53.1)
-Jared Goff – Detroit Lions (53M)
-Justin Herbert – Los Angeles Chargers (52.5)
-Lamar Jackson – Baltimore Ravens (52M)
-Jalen Hurts – Philadelphia Eagles (51M)

Given the trajectory of quarterback salaries, Jackson could be in line for another historic payday if Baltimore opts to extend his contract before its expiration.

What are your thoughts on the Ravens already working on yet another extension for Jackson???
