After days of negotiations, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Aaron Rodgers have seemingly agreed in principle on contract terms – but the quarterback’s official next move remains uncertain.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero revealed on The Jim Rome Show that while the financial aspects of a potential deal are settled, Rodgers has yet to decide whether to accept Pittsburgh’s offer, wait for potential interest from the Minnesota Vikings, or step away from the game entirely.
“They’ve discussed parameters. This is not going to be a financial issue at all for Aaron Rodgers,” Pelissero told Rome. “If it gets done, it’s going to be a one-year deal.”
Pelissero added that communication between Rodgers and the Steelers remains ongoing, but no final decision has been made.
“Aaron’s choices right now are going to the Steelers…or you sit back and you say I’m not ready to make a decision now and maybe you see whether it’s Minnesota or something else might shake out of a tree,” Pelissero added.
Meanwhile, ESPN’s Adam Schefter suggested another possibility – Rodgers walking away from football altogether.
“Well the Pittsburgh Steelers know what it’s like to be Aaron Rodgers, because they’re in the dark right now about what he’s going to do. And there are a lot of people around the league who wonder if Aaron Rodgers is even going to play,” Schefter said.
“We have not heard from Aaron Rodgers himself to know one way or another.”
We know we can count the New York Giants out of the running for Rodgers. However, it seems like he really wants to make 100% sure that the Vikings’ door is officially closed before he signs with Pittsburgh.
I know some of you are getting real sick and tired of all the Rodgers drama and just want him to make a decision already. Perhaps we’re inching closer towards that day.
What are your thoughts on these latest developments? … When it’s all said and done, where do you think Rodgers will end up???
