The NFL offseason quarterback carousel is spinning rapidly, and future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers is now at the center of it.
As teams finalize their plans under center, Rodgers is reportedly closing in on a decision – and just two franchises remain in contention.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Rodgers has honed in on the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants as his top two options.
Rodgers is reportedly focused on pursuing his options with the Steelers and Giants, according to Pelissero, who noted that both teams are believed to have standing offers on the table.
One team that is definitively out? The Minnesota Vikings.
According to Pelissero, the Vikings “have made it clear they are not pursuing the veteran QB,” eliminating them from the running.
Each potential destination presents Rodgers with a vastly different scenario.
Pittsburgh offers a more stable organizational structure. Though the franchise has struggled since Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement, the pedigree of success remains.
The Steelers’ 2024 experiment with Russell Wilson ended in disappointment, as the veteran failed to secure a playoff win. Rodgers could see himself as the missing piece.
Meanwhile, New York presents a far more uncertain environment. The Giants opted to retain head coach Brian Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen for another year, but both are widely seen as being on the hot seat.
Despite that instability, Rodgers’ year-to-year status at this point in his career may make him more tolerant of a short-term gamble.
Now that his top two choices are clear, the next question is how and when Rodgers will make his decision.
Money won’t be an issue in either situation. While the Steelers are in much more of a “win-now” space, signing with the Giants would allow Rodgers to remain in the $9.5 million house he just bought in New Jersey.
Rodgers’ next team could dramatically shift the landscape of the 2025 season, and fans are eager to hear what ultimately drives his choice.
Whether it’s the stability and legacy of the Steelers or the uncertain but high-upside situation with the Giants, Rodgers’ decision will have ripple effects across the league.
What are your thoughts on the Rodgers situation? … When it’s all said and done, where do you think he will end up???
