For the first time since 2012, Joey and Nick Bosa may have the opportunity to be teammates again – this time at the NFL level.
The Los Angeles Chargers have released Joey Bosa, making him a free agent, and a reunion with his younger brother in San Francisco is a very real possibility.
According to NFL Networkβs Ian Rapoport, the 49ers are among the teams that could pursue Joey in free agency.
Their mother, Cheryl Bosa, made her stance clear on social media, expressing her desire to see both of her sons wearing 49ers uniforms…
The Bosa brothers last played together at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, where Joey was a senior and Nick a freshman.
Although both went on to star at Ohio State, their collegiate careers never overlapped – Joey played three seasons before declaring for the NFL Draft, while Nick arrived in Columbus the year after Joey left.
San Francisco currently has approximately $35 million in salary cap space.
While Joey was set to make $25 million on his previous deal with the Chargers, he is unlikely to command that figure on the open market.
Still, he is expected to have multiple suitors, and the 49ers are in a strong position to make a competitive offer.
Most importantly, the 49ers can offer something no other team can: the chance for Joey and Nick Bosa to share the field once again.
What are your thoughts on the chances of Joey and Nick teaming back up again?
Assuming Joey can stay healthy and regain his old dominant form, would the Bosa brothers form the best pass-rushing duo in the NFL???
