Davante Adams’ Likely Landing Spot Has Fans Shocked

There are many who think that star wide receiver Davante Adams is going to end up on whatever team his buddy Aaron Rodgers goes to.

However, oddsmakers don’t view it that way. (Not unless you think Rodgers is heading back to Green Bay for round two.)

Sure enough, the Packers are considered the favorites to land the former All-Pro receiver, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.

The Packers opened at +190 odds, which translates to a 34.48% implied probability of signing Adams.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport noted that Adams, a native of East Palo Alto, California, could prefer a move back to the West Coast. The next closest teams in the odds reflect that possibility:

Los Angeles Chargers: +500 (16.67%)
San Francisco 49ers: +650 (13.33%)
Los Angeles Rams: +750 (11.76%)
Los Angeles Rams: +750
Pittsburgh Steelers: +950
Denver Broncos, New England Patriots: +1000
Las Vegas Raiders, New York Giants: +1200
Houston Texans: +1400
Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens: +1600
Detroit Lions, Arizona Cardinals, Washington Commanders: +2800

The 32-year-old Adams spent last season split between the Las Vegas Raiders and New York Jets, teams that combined for just nine wins.

Despite the instability, he still produced: 85 receptions, 1,063 yards, and eight touchdowns – his fifth straight 1,000-yard season.

Statistically, Adams remains elite. With the Jets, he caught 8-of-18 contested passes, averaged a career-best 6.3 yards after the catch per reception, and hauled in 7-of-16 deep targets (20+ yards downfield), per Pro Football Focus.

However, he also posted a 10.6% drop rate, the second-worst mark of his career.

A four-time Pro Bowler and three-time All-Pro, Adams left Green Bay in March 2022 when the Packers traded him to the Raiders for first- and second-round picks.

Since his departure, the Packers have yet to find a true No. 1 receiver, posting regular-season records of 8-9 (2022), 9-8 (2023), and 11-6 (2024) – a far cry from the 39 wins over Adams’ final three years in Green Bay.

(Rodgers might have had something to do with that as well…)

The Packers’ wide receiver situation remains a concern.

Romeo Doubs suffered two concussions in 2024, and Christian Watson tore his ACL, leaving a significant hole at the position.

Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst acknowledged the need for reinforcements but remained noncommittal about adding a veteran.

“The whole talk about needing a veteran, I’m hoping these guys continue to grow into veterans – and most of them are,” Gutekunst said at last week’s Scouting Combine.

“The amount of games they have under their belt, not only regular-season games but playoff games, as well. So, experience matters, but our guys, even though they may be young in age have a lot of experience, and I want these guys to continue to grow together.

“Like I stated at the end of the season, I think we all have to understand that level of urgency we all need to get to where we want to go.”

That “sense of urgency” suggests Gutekunst could explore veteran options.

Whether that means a reunion with Adams, a trade for DK Metcalf, or targeting free-agent wideouts, Green Bay will have decisions to make in the coming weeks.

What are your thoughts on a possible Adams reunion in Green Bay? … Should the Packers make it happen???
