Adam Schefter Predicts Aaron Rodgers’ Next Team

The Aaron Rodgers sweepstakes may not be in full swing just yet, but that hasn’t stopped ESPN’s Adam Schefter from speculating on where the future Hall of Famer might land.

With his disastrous tenure with the New York Jets over, Rodgers will be on a new team shortly. While he’s not nearly the superstar he used to be, the fact of the matter is Rodgers still has high-level ball left in him.

Several teams are in need of a quarterback, including the New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Las Vegas Raiders.

Schefter believes one team stands out as the most likely landing spot for Rodgers.

“Maybe but doubtfully the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Schefter said on his podcast. “And who else? His best option at this point would appear to be if the Giants are interested in him and he’s interested in them they can figure out a deal.”

While the Steelers have been mentioned as a possible destination, Schefter is skeptical that Pittsburgh will make a move for Rodgers. Instead, he expects them to bring back one of their own quarterbacks from last season.

“If not I don’t know that he’s gonna be able to get a deal done with Pittsburgh. I expect the Steelers to resign one of their own quarterbacks from last year, either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson.

“Because they currently have no quarterbacks under contract entering the league year and it’s tough to go get other wide receivers when you don’t know who’s playing quarterback.”

The Steelers appear to be leaning toward retaining Fields over Wilson.

Fields, despite his inexperience, offers more long-term upside. In his six starts last season, he threw for 11 touchdowns and just one interception, while Wilson, though more productive overall, is showing signs of aging.

The aging Rodgers still put up solid numbers last season, tossing 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. But despite the veteran’s extraordinary credentials, Schefter isn’t convinced Pittsburgh will take a chance on him.

“The Steelers had to get one done,” Schefter continued. “(They’re) the only viable landing spot I can see right now for Aaron Rodgers because I don’t see him in Indy, I don’t see him in Cleveland. I don’t see him in Tennessee or the New York Giants.”

While most people view the Giants as the most likely landing spot for Rodgers, Schefter believes the Steelers could be the ones to claim him when it’s all said and done.

It feels like the majority of Pittsburgh fans would be more than happy with resigning Justin Fields and giving him a shot to be the full-time starter.

Regardless, we won’t have to wait too much longer to see where Rodgers ends up.
