Patrick Mahomes’ Month From Hell Gets Even Worse

February has been anything but kind to Patrick Mahomes.

After a triumphant January that saw the Kansas City Chiefs reach their seventh consecutive AFC Championship Game and punch their ticket to Super Bowl LIX, the star quarterback has endured a brutal stretch of misfortunes.

It all started with heartbreaking family news.

Mahomes’ grandfather on his mother Randi’s side had been battling an illness since September and was placed in hospice care at the start of February. He was unable to attend the Super Bowl and sadly passed away shortly after the game.

Then came Super Bowl Sunday, a night Mahomes would love to forget.

The Chiefs were blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles, 40-22, in one of the most lopsided Super Bowl’s in recent memory.

The Eagles stormed out to a 24-0 halftime lead and never looked back, leaving Mahomes to endure relentless pressure as he was sacked six times and hurried over 15 times.

The end result was a blowout loss that very few saw coming. In many ways, it was the single-worst performance of Mahomes’ entire career.

Just when it seemed the worst was over, Mahomes found himself in the middle of a bizarre family controversy.

His father, Pat Mahomes Sr., a former MLB pitcher, was slated to participate in a Rough ‘N Rowdy boxing match against fellow ex-ballplayer John Rocker, an event hosted by Barstool Sports.

However, Mahomes and his wife, Brittany, allegedly put a stop to it after learning the fight was booked behind their backs.

“This fight is canceled,” Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy said on the Unnamed Show.

“Mahomes’ agent – the football player – and Brittany, from what I am told, intervened and said, ‘There’s no way this fight happens. We’re going to cut this guy off if he does it.’”

Pat Mahomes Sr., who has been arrested multiple times for DWIs in Texas, was reportedly set to earn $85,000 for the fight.

However, with his son shutting it down, that payday is no longer happening.

Mahomes returned to Lubbock, Texas, on Monday to watch his alma mater, Texas Tech, in action against Houston.

Unfortunately, the night ended in yet another disappointment. Texas Tech fell to Houston, 69-61, as the Cougars clinched the Big 12 title in the process.

It’s been a string of tough losses for Mahomes throughout February, but with the new league year rapidly approaching, perhaps better days are ahead.

What are your thoughts on Mahomes? … Do you view him differently now that he suffered his second Super Bowl blowout?

Just how big of a hit did his legacy take with that brutal performance two weeks ago???
