The Buffalo Bills have made some major changes to their receiving corps over the past year, but Curtis Samuel never quite found his role in their offense. After being brought in to add speed and versatility, Samuel instead got lost in the shuffle—especially after the Bills acquired Amari Cooper to be their top target. Now, with limited targets available and a $13 million base salary over the next two years, Buffalo may decide that moving on from Samuel is the best option.

Why Trading Samuel Makes Sense

Samuel was supposed to be a Swiss Army knife in Buffalo’s offense—a gadget player who could stretch the field and be used in creative ways. Instead, he finished the season with just 31 catches for 253 yards and one touchdown in 14 games. That’s not the kind of production that justifies keeping him around at his current price tag.

Buffalo’s offense is built around Josh Allen’s arm, and they need true difference-makers in the passing game. With Cooper leading the way, Dalton Kincaid emerging at tight end, and the Bills still searching for their next explosive playmaker, Samuel no longer fits into their long-term plans.

Who Could Trade for Samuel?

Even though Samuel didn’t put up big numbers in Buffalo, he still has value as a speedster who can create separation:

  • New York Giants – The Giants need help at wide receiver, and Samuel could be a nice complement to their offense.
  • Atlanta Falcons – A team in need of speed on the outside, Samuel could thrive in a more structured offensive role.
  • Tennessee Titans – With an uncertain WR room, Samuel would bring a veteran presence and deep-threat ability.

Final Thoughts

Curtis Samuel is still a talented player, but Buffalo doesn’t have room for him in their current offense. The Bills should look to flip him for draft capital or use him as part of a trade package to bring in a true WR1 who can help them make another Super Bowl push.

For Buffalo, it’s all about maximizing weapons around Josh Allen, and Samuel simply hasn’t been the impact player they hoped he’d be. Moving on now makes too much sense.
