The Philadelphia Eagles are all too familiar with the whirlwind of coaching changes that usually come with a successful season, especially as the Super Bowl trophy nears their grasp. Having faced this scenario twice in their recent Super Bowl quests, Philadelphia has seen top talents from their sideline plucked away for head coaching gigs before the confetti even settled.

The pattern seems poised to repeat itself. Reports from Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reveal that Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore is on the radar for the New Orleans Saints’ head coaching position. He’s expected to have a rendezvous with the Saints following Super Bowl LIX, signaling Moore as a strong contender for their next head coach. The meeting is perfectly timed, especially considering the game is taking place in New Orleans, making it an opportune moment for both parties to converse.

Should Moore secure the position, he would become the third offensive maestro in recent Eagles lore to leap into a head coaching role after a Super Bowl stretch. Fans will recall that Frank Reich departed after the 2017 success to steer the Indianapolis Colts, followed by Shane Steichen’s similar path in 2022. As if losing offensive leaders wasn’t enough, defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon also took a head coaching role following the Eagles’ Super Bowl venture two years ago.

If Moore is destined to follow suit, it signals yet another reshuffle on Philadelphia’s coaching canvas. This could mean that Jalen Hurts, drafted as the Eagles’ promising quarterback in 2020, might soon find himself under the guidance of a fifth play-caller in just six seasons—a carousel that might unsettle others but seems only a slight wobble for Philadelphia’s steadfast spirit. The stability could be questioned, but this team has proven time and again that they’re undeterred by these shifts.

The Eagles have managed to soar high even amidst these coaching changes, proving that they refuse to let potential turbulence clip their wings. As another change potentially looms on the horizon, Philadelphia seems ready to face these challenges head-on, just as they have in the past.
