Maxx Crosby Takes Surprising Pete Carroll Stance Amid Lions Rumors

Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Maxx Crosby has opened up about his experience at the introductory press conference for the team’s new head coach, Pete Carroll, and general manager, John Spytek.

Crosby had made headlines earlier this month when he stated that there were “a lot of things that need to be discussed” regarding his future with the team.

However, he emphasized that he was “going to sit back and wait to see” how the search for a new coach and GM unfolded.

With the search now concluded, Crosby was in attendance when Carroll and Spytek were introduced this week.

Reflecting on the event, Crosby described the atmosphere as “just a ton of great energy in the room.”

He shared that he was excited to finally have a more in-depth conversation with Carroll, who he had met briefly before his hiring.

“It was finally good to talk to Pete,” Crosby said on The Rush podcast. “I got to talk to him before he got hired; he was actually here for an interview. I got to run into him and [Raiders owner Mark Davis] and got to chop it up with them.

“Today, I got to spend a little more time with him. Not a ton, but we got to talk a little bit more and chop it up.”

Crosby also spoke highly of Spytek, the newly appointed general manager, who had reached out to him shortly after his hiring.

“Also, John Spytek, the new GM as well, he texted me right away when he got hired,” Crosby continued. “We’ve had some cool conversations today. I got to meet their families and just hear kind of what the vision is and what the plan is moving forward.

“So, I got to hear a little bit. I’m looking forward to talking more. We could all sit down and do that. Looking forward to that. It was great. Everybody aligned, even the new additions to the front office and ownership.”

Crosby’s earlier comments about his future were centered around the fact that his current contract, which runs through the 2026 season, no longer has any guaranteed money.

There’s also the long-running rumors that the Detroit Lions could be gearing up to trade for the Michigan-native.

At the end of the day, it appears Crosby will be staying put in Vegas – at least for the time being.

Given that Crosby is widely regarded as one of the NFL’s top defensive players, not to mention the undisputed face of the Raiders, it’d be wise for the powers that be to keep him in Vegas.

Having said that, we know the rumors won’t die down until the two sides agree to a contract extension.

What are your thoughts on the whole situation? … Are you ready to put the rumors to bed – or do you think there’s a real chance Crosby gets dealt at some point in the future???
