Chiefs Haters Just Got Some Terrible News

The road to Super Bowl LIX has narrowed to four teams.

In the AFC, the Kansas City Chiefs will host the Buffalo Bills in the championship game, while the NFC will feature a clash between division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders.

The Chiefs and Bills previously faced off earlier this season, with Buffalo dealing Kansas City its only true loss of the year, as the Chiefs rested key players in a Week 18 loss to the Denver Broncos.

Meanwhile, the Eagles and Commanders split their two regular-season matchups, setting the stage for an intense NFC title showdown.

As the teams gear up for Sunday’s games, the NFL is also preparing for the culmination of the season: Super Bowl LIX.

The league just announced the officiating crew for the big game, naming veteran official Ron Torbert as the head referee.

“Here’s your first look at the Super Bowl LIX officiating crew … Of note — Mike Morton won Super Bowl XXXIV as a linebacker with the @RamsNFL and is now working his first Super Bowl as an official,” NFL Football Operations announced on X.

However, the announcement drew major criticism from fans on social media.

Interestingly, the backlash didn’t necessarily come because of any particular referee. No, this wasn’t the case of some sort of KC-bias from any of the named officials.

Instead, fans were angered by the color-scheme of the graphic that the league decided to use for the announcement.

Unsurprisingly, the interesting “Chiefs-themed” color choice led many to believe that the fix could possibly be in for Kansas City.

While the color-scheme is certainly interesting, it’s safe to assume that there isn’t some sort of NFL conspiracy taking place to ensure the Chiefs pull off a historic Super Bowl three-peat.

Having said that, officiating displays like the one we saw last weekend in the Chiefs-Texans games certainly doesn’t help matters…

What are your thoughts on the officiating crew for the Super Bowl???
