The NFC East will feature two teams battling for the conference crown this year, but the Dallas Cowboys won’t be one of them.
Instead, the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles secured their spots in the NFC Championship with decisive wins in the divisional round.
The Commanders edged out the Detroit Lions, while the Eagles dismantled the Los Angeles Rams, setting up an all-NFC East showdown.
Adding to the Cowboys’ misery, the team’s 27-year NFC Championship Game drought is now the longest in the conference.
And with a lackluster 7-10 finish this past season – their worst in four years – there’s little optimism for the streak to end anytime soon.
To make matters worse for Dallas fans, two familiar faces will be calling the plays in the NFC title game.
Washington’s head coach, Dan Quinn, and Philadelphia’s offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, both held key coaching roles in Dallas before finding success elsewhere.
Meanwhile, back in Dallas, owner Jerry Jones is preparing for another coaching search after parting ways with head coach Mike McCarthy following the disappointing season.
Jones is under fire from fans who have grown increasingly frustrated with the Cowboys’ decades-long championship drought and revolving door of coaches.
There’s no doubt that the pain from Dallas’ long drought is made worse by the fact that two of their biggest rivals are facing off in the conference title game.
Needless to say, Cowboy-haters are out in full-force on social media…
For two former Dallas coaches, the NFC title game is an opportunity to prove their worth on the league’s biggest stage.
For the Cowboys, it’s another stark reminder of just how far they’ve fallen behind.
What are your thoughts on the current state of America’s Team?
Who should Jones hire to get this whole thing turned around???
