The Denver Broncos have made a strategic move to bolster their practice squad by signing offensive lineman Will Sherman. This acquisition was noted in the NFL’s transaction wire on Monday, filling a key roster spot with a familiar face.

This move comes in the wake of the Broncos’ recent decision to elevate running back Blake Watson to their active roster on Christmas Eve. The promotion was a protective measure to ensure Watson’s talents remained with Denver, preventing other teams from snatching him up. However, this maneuver necessitated some roster shuffling, including waiving veteran cornerback Levi Wallace to make space on the 53-man roster. While there was an intention expressed by Broncos’ head coach Sean Payton to bring Wallace back onto the practice squad, circumstances didn’t pan out as planned. After clearing waivers, Wallace chose not to rejoin the Broncos and remains a free agent, leaving Denver to explore other options.

Enter Will Sherman, a versatile lineman who started the 2024 season on the Broncos’ practice squad. Unfortunately, an injury sidelined Sherman earlier this year, leading to an injury settlement with the team and his subsequent release in October. Now recovered, the 25-year-old has been given the nod to return to Mile High and contribute once more.

Sherman’s return is a testament to both his resilience and the team’s confidence in his abilities. His familiarity with Denver’s system could be invaluable as the Broncos look to strengthen their offensive line depth heading into the latter part of the season. With this addition, the Broncos are rearming their ranks, ready to face the challenges that lie ahead.
