Michael Penix Jr. stepped into the starting quarterback role for the Atlanta Falcons late in the 2024 season, and he’s had a bit of a mixed bag so far.1

In his first start against the New York Giants, he didn’t exactly light up the stat sheet, throwing for just over 200 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. But hey, the Falcons won the game 34-7, so no one was complaining too much.

His second start against the Washington Commanders was a bit tougher. Penix threw for 223 yards with one touchdown and one interception, and the Falcons ended up losing in overtime. He had some struggles early on, but he settled down as the game went on and showed flashes of his potential.

Now, it’s important to remember that Penix is still a young quarterback, and he’s only had two starts under his belt. He’s got a lot to learn, but he’s also got a lot of talent. He’s mobile, he can make accurate throws, and he’s got a strong arm.

The Falcons are clearly hoping that Penix is their quarterback of the future, and they’re giving him the opportunity to prove himself. He’s got a lot of upside, and with some more experience, he could develop into a real star.

It’s going to be fun to watch Penix’s development over the next few years. He’s got the tools to be a successful quarterback in the NFL, and with the right coaching and support, he could lead the Falcons to great things. So keep an eye on this young quarterback, folks, because he might just be the real deal.
