In the Miami Dolphins’ 29-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, wide receiver Tyreek Hill scored a touchdown, but his postgame remarks focused on the plays he didn’t make.

Hill acknowledged two key missed opportunities in the first quarter, citing reduced practice reps as a contributing factor.

The first misstep came on the opening drive when Hill dropped a third-down pass from quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Later, he failed to secure a tipped pass in the end zone, which had deflected off 49ers cornerback Deommodore Lenoir.

While the end-zone attempt was a challenging play, Hill was candid in saying it was one he should have made.

“I need those valuable reps with Tua,” Hill said after the game. “Those vet rest days are starting to show. I completely blame myself for not getting my head around and not seeing the ball because, if I see a ball, we’re talking cross-court, 70-yard touchdown.

Hill attributed the mistakes to a wrist injury that has limited his practice time this season.

He acknowledged that skipping reps during the week has affected his game-day performance.

“You can’t just show up on Sunday,” he stated. “Those Wednesday reps are definitely showing. As a leader, I’ve just got to be able to bite the bullet sometime and practice and get those valuable reps with QB1 because, if we’re able to stay on the field on third down, who knows what could happen.”

Head coach Mike McDaniel addressed Hill’s concerns after the game, signaling a willingness to adapt the team’s practice schedule to prioritize more time for Hill and Tagovailoa to connect.

The bottom line is the Dolphins managed to stay alive in the AFC playoff hunt with their impressive win over the Niners yesterday.

Having said that, if they’re going to be a legitimate threat going forward, Tua and Hill need to be on the same page.
