NFL Expert Says Bo Nix Is Much Better Than Jalen Hurts

As he tends to do, FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd has certainly stirred up some interesting conversation.

Cowherd drew comparisons between Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix and several established NFL quarterbacks, including Jalen Hurts, Jordan Love, and Brock Purdy.

Cowherd made some bold assertions about Nix’s potential, even suggesting the rookie might already have an edge over some of the league’s more experienced stars.

“Here’s what concerns me with Jalen Hurts,” Cowherd said on The Herd. “He is very dependent on his legs. Even through nine, 10, 12 games, I think (Nix), in the pocket, is a better pocket passer.”

Cowherd also assessed Nix in comparison to Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love, highlighting Love’s athleticism and arm strength.

However, Cowherd was hesitant to choose between the two, pointing out Love’s inconsistency.

“[Love is] a better athlete with a better arm,” Cowherd noted, “but he’s reckless. That’s the issue.”

The analysis didn’t stop there, as Cowherd gave an emphatic nod to Nix when comparing him to San Francisco 49ers starter Brock Purdy.

“I don’t even think it’s close. I think it’s Bo Nix,” Cowherd said. “One’s a first-rounder, one’s a seventh-rounder. One guy actually won big-time in college at two places. I mean, what’s Auburn been since Bo Nix left? Stinkaroony.”

(I guess Cowherd values wins in the old Pac-12 more than ones in the NFC Championship Game.)

Regardless, Cowherd’s remarks referenced Nix’s decorated college career, during which he led Auburn to a 21-16 record before transferring to Oregon, where he found even greater success.

Auburn has struggled since his departure, posting a combined 15-20 record over the past three seasons.

Nix, now with the Broncos, has the opportunity to validate Cowherd’s high praise as Denver faces the Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday.

What are your thoughts on Cowherd’s opinion that Nix is already better than Jalen Hurts?

When it’s all said and done, do you think Nix will end up being the best quarterback to come from the 2024 draft class???
