Dallas Cowboys star receiver CeeDee Lamb is calling for changes at AT&T Stadium, tired of battling the glaring sun on Sunday afternoons.
When asked if the venue, known for its massive windows, should install curtains to block out the sunlight, Lamb was direct: “Yes, 1,000 percent,” he said.
The issue of sun glare disrupting play is nothing new for the Cowboys, but it resurfaced dramatically in Sunday’s game.
During a critical moment, a miscommunication between Lamb and tight end Jake Ferguson – both blinded by the sunlight – caused a missed opportunity for a potential touchdown from quarterback Cooper Rush.
“I couldn’t see the ball. Couldn’t see the ball, at all. The sun,” Lamb said after the game.
However, team owner Jerry Jones has consistently downplayed any need for modifications to AT&T Stadium, dismissing the idea of adding curtains.
In response to Lamb’s comments, Jones took a bold stance, suggesting that dealing with the sun is simply part of the game.
“Well let’s tear the damn stadium down and build another one? Are you kidding me? Everybody has got the same thing,” Jones said. “Every team that comes in here has the same issues.
“I’m saying, the world knows where the sun is. You get to know that almost a year in advance. Someone asked me about the sun. What about the sun? Where’s the moon?”
The stadium, which opened in 2009, was designed with massive glass walls to enhance its grandeur, but the sunlight streaming through them has caused visibility issues for players over the years. J
ones has previously argued that dealing with environmental factors is part of football, even indoors.
“I wish to hell all I had to worry about was a ball hitting the screen or a little sun getting in there,” Jones said in a 2022 interview on 105.3 The Fan. “Conditions and elements have been a part of football since it was spelled the first time.
“No. That’s about 10,000 on my list of things to worry about. And, no, we’re not going to do anything with it.”
It’s been an extremely frustrating season in Dallas and Lamb’s comments are in many ways a microcosm of the season.
Anything that could go wrong for the Cowboys has gone wrong. Even things as simple as the way the stadium is structured
Dallas’ 34-6 loss to the rival Philadelphia Eagles dropped them to 3-6 on the season.
With the unfortunate injury news to quarterback Dak Prescott, it’s become clear that things will only get worse from here.
What are your thoughts on Lamb’s comments???
