Jerry Jones Drops Hint Of Major Shakeup In Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys dropped to 3-5 after a 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, marking their third consecutive defeat.

Making matters worse, Dak Prescott’s hamstring injury is reportedly more serious than originally expected. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Prescott is expected to miss at least a few weeks.

In other words, the season is quickly slipping away in Big D.

For owner Jerry Jones, it’s a frustrating situation to say the least, especially after he promised fans an “all-in” approach this offseason. However, the team’s performance so far has fallen well short of that promise.

Despite some fans believing the 2024 season is a complete lost cause for the Cowboys, Jones hinted that the team will be active in the lead-up to tomorrow’s trade deadline.

“We’ll probably do a couple things this week … I’m a long way from being dismayed about this team this year,” Jones said after the disappointing loss to Atlanta yesterday.

While it’s not impossible for a team to rally from 3-5 and make the playoffs, the Cowboys face a tough road ahead.

Their next three matchups are against the Eagles, Texans, and Commanders – arguably three of their toughest opponents. Adding to the challenge is Prescott’s health, casting a major shadow over the team’s future.

The way things have gone in Dallas this season, it won’t come as a surprise to anyone if the Cowboys dropped all three of those games and fall to 3-8.

There was hope initially that Prescott’s injury wasn’t that serious.

“I gotta get it looked at. Didn’t think much of it. Then the next play, I felt a pull. That’s something I never felt,” Prescott said after the game.

“It was tough to walk on it at that point. I asked if I could make it worse. The (medical staff) said I wouldn’t be able to protect myself. I wanted to get out there and compete. I wanted to get out there and fight.”

Prescott has his fair share of critics – and at times he doesn’t do himself any favors. Having said that, he always competes his butt off and you never have to question his effort of commitment. (His execution is a different story.)

With the news that Dak will miss at least a few games, it would seem Jones would have to work a mini-miracle at the trade deadline in order to save the season.

A large portion of the Cowboys fanbase is hoping that the Mike McCarthy era will soon be coming to an end.

While Jones didn’t go “all-in” in the offseason the way he promised, he did give McCarthy one final chance to prove himself. There’s still plenty of season left, but the clock is ticking, and quite frankly it’s running out.

One person who sure is sick of McCarthy is Micah Parsons’ brother, Terrence Parsons Jr., who stated, “Mike McCarthy shouldn’t even get on the plane,” after the loss to the Falcons yesterday.

The NFL trade deadline is set for 4pm EST tomorrow afternoon on what should otherwise be a pretty quiet day.

What are your thoughts on Jones hinting that the Cowboys will be active at the deadline? … Do you think he has a trick or two up his sleeve?

Or is the simple reality that the Cowboys are a sinking ship, and nothing will save them this year???
