The Dallas Cowboys have never shied away from big personalities and even bigger ambitions, but recent comments from star defenders Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs have hinted at potential friction within the team.
The two recently engaged in a public discussion about top quarterbacks across the league, listing notable names without mentioning their own quarterback, Dak Prescott.
Speaking on Parsons’ podcast, the two named (in no particular order) Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Jared Goff, Jalen Hurts, Matthew Stafford, and Sam Darnold as the top quarterbacks in the league.
While Bengals fans would certainly love to have a word with Parsons and Diggs, Prescott has an even bigger axe to grind.
Sure, Dak may not be a truly elite NFL quarterback, but Parsons and Diggs have to mention his name in any discussion involving so many names.
The Cowboys have long relied on Prescott, who led the NFL in touchdown passes last season and played a pivotal role in guiding Dallas into the playoffs.
However, Dak’s performance has taken a noticeable dip this season, which apparently hasn’t escaped the attention of his teammates.
After a standout 2023 season, Prescott’s struggles this year are undeniable. Through the first seven games, he’s thrown only 10 touchdown passes against eight interceptions and has shown signs of faltering under pressure, a concern highlighted by his string of multiple-interception games in three consecutive matchups.
This stretch includes two losses that left the Cowboys with a 3-4 record, while the offense, previously one of the league’s strongest, has slumped to 22nd in scoring.
Prescott’s turnover issues have consistently put the Cowboys defense in difficult situations, and it’s evident that the pressure is mounting within the team.
It may be something. It may be nothing. But there’s no denying that there have been signs over the past few years that Dak is losing respect in the Cowboys locker room.
What are your thoughts on Parsons and Diggs not naming Prescott on their list?
While on the subject, do you think the Cowboys are annoyed that Parsons hosts a podcast (often times with rival players), especially during such a disappointing season???
