Rob Saleh Rumored To Join Super Bowl Contender’s Staff

Just over two weeks after being dismissed as head coach of the New York Jets, Robert Saleh was spotted at the Green Bay Packers’ practice today, sparking speculation about his future in the NFL.

Saleh, who was fired by Jets owner Woody Johnson following the team’s Week 5 loss to the Minnesota Vikings, watched from the sidelines during the Packers’ session.

Saleh’s presence in Green Bay has drawn attention due to his long-standing connections with Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley.

According to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky, media outlets are awaiting confirmation from LaFleur after practice, as rumors swirl about Saleh potentially joining the Packers’ coaching staff in some capacity.

The Jets parted ways with Saleh on October 8, just two days after the team’s 23-17 loss to the Vikings in London.

Johnson’s decision to let go of the coach reportedly came as a surprise to Saleh, who had led the team since 2021. During his tenure, Saleh compiled a 20-36 record but failed to guide the Jets to playoff contention.

Before taking the helm in New York, Saleh made his mark as the defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers, where he helped lead a formidable defense alongside Hafley.

His ties to LaFleur go back even further, with both coaches having worked together on the Houston Texans’ staff in 2008 and 2009.

LaFleur has been the Packers’ head coach since 2019, and their shared history has fueled speculation that Green Bay could be a landing spot for Saleh following his departure from the Jets.

As the Packers continue their preparations for Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Saleh’s next move remains uncertain.

However, his appearance at today’s practice has certainly reignited interest in his coaching future and possible reunion with familiar faces in Green Bay.

What do you make of the sighting? … Should LaFleur and the Packers bring him onboard???
