Davante Adams has reportedly informed the Las Vegas Raiders that he is seeking a trade, igniting interest from several contending teams.
According to reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers have expressed “preliminary interest” in the Pro Bowl wide receiver.
Additionally, both the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets have reached out to the Raiders about a possible deal, as reported by The Athletic.
Adams reportedly has specific preferences for his next destination, with the Jets and New Orleans Saints high on his personal wish list.
A key factor in this is Adams’ familiarity with both teams’ quarterbacks.
He has a long-standing connection with Aaron Rodgers from their time together with the Green Bay Packers, and he also has a history with Saints quarterback Derek Carr, with whom he played at Fresno State and during his early tenure with the Raiders.
The Steelers, who were previously linked to San Francisco 49ers receiver Brandon Aiyuk before he signed an extension ahead of the 2024 season, are believed to be seeking a high-level target for their offense.
The Cowboys, currently sitting at 2-2, are also motivated to boost their wide receiver corps, which has struggled to complement star CeeDee Lamb.
While many teams are monitoring Adamsā availability, the Raiders are “in no rush to make a move until a team reaches their asking price,” according to The Athletic.
As far as what the Raiders are seeking for the talented Adams, ESPN reports that they will command at least a second-round draft pick in return.
The 31-year-old had previously dismissed rumors of dissatisfaction with the Raiders, but his stance reportedly shifted this week.
The veteran wideout, who was acquired by Las Vegas in 2022 for first- and second-round picks, missed the team’s Week 4 win due to a hamstring injury.
In a recent appearance on the Up & Adams show, Adams made cryptic remarks about his relationship with coach Antonio Pierce, fueling speculation about his future with the team.
Pierce had “liked” a social media post which indicated that Adams’ days in Silver and Black could soon be coming to an end. (Shouldn’t NFL head coaches stay off social media???)
Attempting to downplay the drama, Pierce said it’s all business as usual in Vegas. āDavanteās dealing with a hamstring, heās rehabbing, the rest of us are focused on Denver,ā he said.
There has been speculation about an Adams reunion with Rodgers for well over a year now. Perhaps that will end up happening. However, Gang Green knows they’ll have plenty of competition on their hands.
There are some people who are pushing for the Kansas City Chiefs to aggressively make a move for Adams.
While that would seemingly be a smart play for the back-to-back champs, can you really see the Raiders trading Adams to their hated rivals?
At the end of the day, where do you think Adams will end up???
