Tennessee Titans quarterback Will Levis has quickly become one of the most polarizing quarterbacks in the NFL.
While he certainly has his supporters (although some are losing faith), he has even more doubters who feel he doesn’t have a future as a franchise quarterback in the league.
Only time will tell how his career plays out…
It’s been a difficult start to the year for the former Kentucky star. The Titans are sitting winless at 0-2 and Levis has a whole lot to do with it.
Adding insult to injury is the fact that his cell phone number was leaked out to the masses.
The 24-year-old expressed frustration with the leak and admitted he’s faced a flood of angry calls and texts coming in.
“I don’t know how my number got out there with the fans, but I got a lot of texts,” Levis said. “That’ll be nice to shut that part and put it behind me. I haven’t opened social [media] in the last couple of weeks. I just think that’s the healthiest way to go about it.
“I don’t want to or care to hear any of the things people say about me, and I’m just going to keep chugging along regardless of what they say. It sucks that the world is the way that it is, and I’m looking forward to having some privacy.”
While Levis is trying to block out the noise from upset fans, he’s also shouldering the pressures of underperforming on the field.
Through two games, he ranks 26th in the NFL with a 67.3 passer rating, logging two touchdowns, three interceptions, and two lost fumbles.
The Titans, despite boasting the league’s top defense, are struggling offensively. Their passing game sits at 27th in the league, and they are tied for 24th in overall offensive performance.
Even with these challenges, Titans offensive coordinator Brian Callahan remains optimistic about Levis’ progress.
“Will’s improvement from Week 1 to Week 2, to me, was noticeable,” Callahan said. “Everything about how he moved in the pocket, where he had his eyes, just everything about playing the position was better in Week 2.”
“I think offensively as a whole, there’s a lot of things that were better from Week 1 to Week 2. We’ve got to get a lot better between Week 2 and Week 3. And that’s just the nature of the NFL, especially in the early part of the season, is how quickly you can improve your team and what you do well.
“I’m really pleased with how he played for the most part, and that didn’t change after we watched the tape,” Callahan concluded.
Off the field, Levis’ personal life has also been in the spotlight.
It’s been a year since his three-year relationship with Gia Duddy ended, a split that reportedly came without bad blood. However, the timing of recent social media posts has fueled speculation that Duddy might be enjoying Levis’ struggles.
Duddy, who moved to Nashville following the quarterback’s selection in the 2023 draft, recently posted a cryptic TikTok video about karma.
While it could relate to anything, the post coincided with Levis’ challenging start, raising eyebrows among fans.
Since their breakup, Levis has moved on and is now dating Victoria Fuller, a well-known former contestant on The Bachelor.
Meanwhile, Duddy has acknowledged that the breakup was a difficult period but claims she holds no ill will towards her quarterback ex.
For Levis, the challenges on and off the field are piling up. As he works to improve his performance and block out the negativity from the outside, it remains to be seen if he will truly make it as a franchise quarterback in Tennessee.
What are your thoughts on Levis? … Will he be able to turn things around???
