Ben Roethlisberger Gives Brutally Honest Take On Steelers QB Drama

Legendary Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has joined the conversation surrounding Pittsburgh’s ongoing quarterback dilemma between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields.

Everyone in Pittsburgh has weighed in on the debate, and now adopted son Big Ben has too.

During the latest episode of his “Footbahlin'” podcast, Roethlisberger expressed support for Fields remaining the Steelers’ starting quarterback, regardless of Wilson’s health status.

“He’s not turning the ball over,” Roethlisberger said. “They’re 2-0. Big test this week with the Chargers coming to town. To me, if Russ is healthy, I’m sticking with Justin.

“I said it last week, I wouldn’t. But what I saw [in Week 2], I think he has earned and deserves the right to stay there.”

Fields has not put up dazzling numbers in his first two games as the Steelers’ starter. He’s averaging 136.5 passing yards per game, 6.3 yards per attempt, and 3.8 yards per carry – all career lows.

However, Fields has completed 69.8% of his passes, a career-best, and most notably, he has yet to commit a turnover this season.

The Steelers named Wilson the starting quarterback prior to the start of the regular season, but Fields has been at the helm for the first two games as Wilson continues to recover from a calf injury.

Wilson initially hurt his calf during the first week of training camp and aggravated the injury ahead of Week 1.

The Steelers are off to a 2-0 start, with victories over the Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos. This marks the first time in Fields’ career that his team is at least two games above .500.

What are your thoughts on Big Ben’s take?

Should the Steelers stick with Fields at quarterback regardless of Wilson’s health???
