4x Super Bowl Champ Reveals What Makes Bears Culture So Special

Although Joe Thuney hasn’t been with the Chicago Bears for very long, the seasoned offensive lineman has already made a firm commitment to the team by signing an extension that keeps him under contract through the 2027 season.

A four-time Super Bowl champion, Thuney expressed genuine happiness about his new home and made it clear he’s a firm believer in Chicago’s bright future.

“As the days rolled into weeks you realize this is a special place, special building, special history here, and the people in the building make it even more special,” Thuney said.

“I don’t know if there was an exact moment or anything. Pretty early on, I could tell this is something I want to be a part of, something that I think could be really cool going forward.”

Before joining the Bears, Thuney spent four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, where he developed a wealth of experience at the highest level. Now in Chicago, he’s quickly taking on a leadership role among the offensive line unit.

Thuney is determined to be a go-to resource for his teammates, helping them improve on and off the field.

“Whether it be plays or situations or time of year, anything. To talk about things I’ve seen, things I’ve been through and then try to get a routine with guys and work,” Thuney continued.

“Whether it be after practice or after meetings or whatever. You want to be a resource for the guys and show them my routine through the season, through the offseason.”

Thuney, who knows all about dominant offensive lines, added praise for the group he’s now working with in Chicago.

“Like I said, the line room has been great, a lot of hardworking guys in there, a lot of guys that want to compete, want to play. It’s been going well,” he concluded.

With Thuney locked in long-term and embracing a mentorship role, the Bears’ offensive line is poised to benefit from his experience and leadership for years to come.
