Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has escalated his feud with ex-fiancée Tia Jones, filing a civil lawsuit against her on Monday, March 24, 2025, in Williamson County, Texas. The suit accuses Jones of assault, battery, theft, defamation, and other wrongdoings, with Worthy alleging her actions stem from her infidelity, which he claims to have discovered during the Chiefs’ run to Super Bowl LIX. The legal battle, detailed in court documents obtained by TMZ, paints a messy picture of a relationship gone sour, with both sides trading serious accusations.

Worthy, a 2024 first-round draft pick who had a standout rookie season with 59 catches for 638 yards and nine touchdowns, says he met Jones at a steakhouse in Austin in late 2023, but their romantic relationship didn’t begin until spring 2024. By fall, as the Chiefs were chasing a third straight Super Bowl, Worthy noticed a change in Jones’ behavior. Suspecting infidelity, he hired a private investigator, who allegedly confirmed Jones was cheating with a trainer. Worthy claims he asked Jones to leave their shared home multiple times, even offering to get her an apartment, but she refused. Instead, he alleges she “became enraged,” destroying his game room, scratching his face, and ripping out chunks of his hair, causing visible injuries.

The lawsuit, seeking between $250,000 and $1 million in damages, also claims Jones fabricated domestic violence allegations to “extort a home, money, cars, and other valuables” from him. Worthy was arrested on March 7 for allegedly choking Jones, but the Williamson County District Attorney declined to press charges the next day after speaking with witnesses. While in custody, Worthy alleges Jones stole $30,000 in cash, jewelry, a handgun, and keys to his Rolls Royce, totaling over $150,000 in damages. He’s also applied for a protective order against her, mirroring the temporary protective order Jones secured against him on March 12, which remains in place until an April 1 hearing.

Jones, a 24-year-old professional sprinter, has her own version of events. She alleges Worthy assaulted her multiple times, including choking and slamming her, with the March 7 incident being the “most violent.” Her attorneys claim she’s cooperating with law enforcement, providing evidence like texts and medical records, and insist the investigation is ongoing despite the dropped charges. The Chiefs, for their part, issued a statement saying they’re “gathering information” on the situation, while the NFL has also acknowledged the matter.

This isn’t just a he-said, she-said drama—it’s a clash of narratives with high stakes for both parties. Worthy’s lawsuit frames Jones as a scorned ex using false claims to ruin his reputation, a serious concern for a young NFL star whose career could be derailed by such allegations. Jones, meanwhile, positions herself as a victim of repeated abuse, using her protective order to push back. The truth remains murky, and with both sides digging in, this legal battle could drag on, casting a shadow over Worthy’s second season with the Chiefs as they gear up for training camp this summer.
