We Could Witness CFB History Tomorrow

The No. 8 Miami Hurricanes are surging toward an ACC title and a potential spot in the College Football Playoff, thanks in large part to the historic season of quarterback Cam Ward.

With just two games left in the regular season, Ward is on track to etch his name in the college football record books, adding even more excitement to Miamiā€™s impressive turnaround.

Landing Ward as a transfer from Washington State last offseason was a game-changing move for head coach Mario Cristobal and the Hurricanes.

After enduring back-to-back losing seasons with a combined 12-13 record, Miami now boasts a 9-1 record and legitimate playoff aspirations.

Wardā€™s performance has been nothing short of sensational.

The senior leads the nation in passing yards (3,494), passing touchdowns (32), and total touchdowns (35) through 10 games.

Wardā€™s rise to prominence is a story of perseverance.

The West Columbia, Texas, native began his collegiate career at Incarnate Word, an FCS school, after being overlooked in the 2020 recruiting cycle.

His standout production over two seasons caught the attention of larger programs, and he transferred to Washington State before eventually making his way to Miami.

Now, in his fourth collegiate season, Ward is chasing all-time greatness.

He currently ranks third in NCAA history with 17,370 career passing yards. Even more impressively, his 151 career passing touchdowns leave him just four shy of the record 155 set by former Houston quarterback Case Keenum from 2007 to 2011.

With two regular season games remaining against Wake Forest (4-6) and Syracuse (7-3), Ward has a legitimate shot at breaking Keenumā€™s record.

Averaging 3.5 passing touchdowns per game, the nationā€™s top passer needs five more to surpass the mark.

The Hurricanes are heavy favorites (-25) against Wake Forest tomorrow in a matchup slated for a noon EST kickoff at Hard Rock Stadium.

For Ward, the stakes couldnā€™t be higher.

With NFL scouts watching and Miamiā€™s playoff dreams alive, Ward’s pursuit of history adds another layer to an already compelling season.

Will we witness college football history this weekend???
