Veteran Makes Eye-Opening Statement On Vital QB Race

There’s been much more drama surrounding New England Patriots training camp than was expected – but much of that has to do with the contract situation of star defender Matthew Judon.

As far as the quarterback competition, the early reviews on first-round draft pick Drake Maye have been up-and-down, but mostly down – something that hasn’t caught too many off-guard as the talented quarterback continues to grow.

When the Patriots signed seasoned quarterback Jacoby Brissett during the offseason, many fans viewed the move as a precautionary measure, ensuring coverage if Maye needed more time to develop.

However, Brissett has a completely different perspective.

In a recent interview on “Up & Adams,” Jacoby Brissett emphasized his intention to be the Patriots’ starting quarterback for the duration of his time with the team, dismissing the notion that he is merely an insurance policy for Maye.

“Two things can be true: I can be perfect for the situation, but I’m also the perfect guy to start,” Brissett told Kay Adams.

“Don’t take that away from me either. I fully expect to be the starter as long as I am here. Whatever happens outside of that has nothing to do with me.

“That doesn’t mean I undermine myself for somebody else. It means I’m ready to perform, support my teammates, and lead this team.”

Currently, Brissett is taking most of the snaps with the first-team offense and holds a higher position on the depth chart than Maye.

Despite this, the team has yet to officially name a starting quarterback as they allow the competition to play out.

Who do you think will end up winning the starting job?

What are your feelings on Maye? … Will he live up to the hype???
