Disturbing details have surfaced regarding an incident that has landed Cleveland Browns rookie running back Quinshon Judkins in hot water. Judkins, a promising second-round pick out of Ohio State, was arrested on Saturday night on charges of “touch or strike/battery/domestic violence” and released on a $2,500 bond.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s report, shared by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, paints a troubling picture of the alleged altercation. According to the report, Judkins’ girlfriend claimed that during an argument at Fort Lauderdale International Airport on July 7, Judkins punched her in the chin and mouth. After getting into a car, Judkins allegedly hit her on the arm and thigh. The responding officer noted that the accuser provided photographs showing bruises from the encounter.

What complicates this narrative is the time lapse before the accuser stepped forward. It appears that concern over Judkins’ budding NFL career could have played a role in her initial hesitation. However, after discussions with friends and family, she decided to contact the authorities.

Judkins is not just any rookie; he made a significant splash in college football, packing over 1,000 yards under his belt over three seasons—a testament to his on-field prowess. Transferring from Ole Miss, he was instrumental in Ohio State’s national championship run last season, catching scouts’ eyes and leading the Browns to snap him up as the 36th overall pick, especially after letting go of Nick Chubb, a beloved four-time Pro Bowler.

While the NFL has acknowledged being aware of the incident, they’ve reserved further comment. The Browns echoed this stance, with a spokesperson indicating that they are in the process of gathering information. Judkins now faces the risk of a significant suspension. Under the NFL’s domestic violence policy, first-time offenders can expect a six-game suspension without pay—a stark reminder of the league’s stance on such matters.

As this situation unfolds, Judkins’ future with the Browns and within the league hangs in a delicate balance, with eyes not just on his next move on the field, but how he navigates these serious allegations off the field.
