Luis, who hailed from Tinaco, Venezuela, joined the Orioles organization as an international free agent. Unfortunately, his bright future was abruptly ended on Sunday in Sarasota, Florida, when a collision involving two jet skis resulted in a tragic accident. Though two other individuals involved in the incident were rushed to the hospital, Luis was not as fortunate.
Expressing the profound sorrow felt throughout the organization, Orioles’ General Manager, Mike Elias, shared the team’s condolences. “Luis was a beloved member of our organization, and we are devastated following his tragic passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and teammates, and we ask for their continued privacy during this difficult time,” Elias said, speaking on behalf of the team.
While the exact cause of Luis Guevara’s death remains undetermined, the crash involved both crafts carrying two passengers each, all of whom ended up in the water. Authorities from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission have launched an investigation into the crash and reported two of the victims as trauma alerts.
