The Super Bowl Comes Down to One Thing

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will do battle in the Super Bowl with history on the line for the AFC West champs.

Chasing a three-peat, the Chiefs are one game away from having their name etched in the history books forever – but one team, and more so, one player stands in their way.

Saquon Barkley.

With the Eagles running back in scintillating form this postseason, he has the ability to ruin the Chiefs’ attempt at history and has been running wild all season.

And for CBS Sports, stopping No. 26 could be how the Super Bowl victor is determined.

“This is what the Super Bowl may come down to,” CBS Sports writes. “Can the Chiefs contain the player that carried Philly to the Super Bowl? Barkley is averaging 147.3 rushing yards per game in the playoffs, and has rushed for five touchdowns in Philly’s three postseason matchups. He’s crossed 100 yards rushing in 14 of 19 games this season, including five straight, but the Chiefs have gone 18 straight games without allowing a 100-yard rusher. Something has to give.”

It will be an interesting battle between Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagunolo and Barkley with the defending champs allowing over 130 rushing yards in five of their last six games.

Something tells us that can’t happen here otherwise Barkley might lead the Eagles to the promised land. Also, grinding out the clock with Barkley also hurts the Chiefs’ chances given Patrick Mahomes and Co. won’t have much time to work with.

So there are ample storylines to watch in the Super Bowl, but how effective/ineffective Saquon is might determine who wins the NFL ‘s penultimate game.
