SEC Power Trying To Flip Top QB In Stunner

This Saturday, five-star quarterback prospect Julian Lewis, currently ranked as ESPN’s No. 2 overall recruit in the class of 2025, will attend the highly anticipated matchup between the Georgia Bulldogs and Tennessee Volunteers.

The Carrollton High School standout quarterback, who committed to the University of Southern California over a year ago, is sparking speculation about a potential shift in his college decision.

The visit marks a significant opportunity for Georgia, which may be positioning itself as a viable alternative for the young star.

Lewis has created plenty of buzz both on and off the field.

At Carrollton High, he led his team in Georgia’s top division, impressing scouts and fans with his precise, quick-release throws and play-extending athleticism.

He has drawn comparisons to a ā€œpoint guard on the gridironā€ due to his sharp field vision and ability to manipulate defenses.

Andrew Ivins of 247 Sports praised Lewis, stating, ā€œA de facto point guard on the gridiron that can distribute the football like few others. Wonā€™t blow many away with his build but makes up for his subpar measurables with his ability to scan the field and manipulate defenses with his eyes.

“Compact release allows him to rip tight, accurate spirals to all different levels. Might not have a true cannon but will drop balls over coverage well into the deeper third. Has proven to be a crafty mover both in and outside of the pocket and will extend plays like a true escape artist.

Irvin continued his praise of Lewis, adding, “(He) Elected to forgo his senior season after reclassifying and moving up a year, but has already shown that heā€™s well ahead of the curve, posting a 25-3 record in two seasons while competing in the Peach Stateā€™s highest classification.

“Size might be a sticking point for some, but rare intangibles make him one of the top passers in the 2025 cycle as he constantly finds ways to move the chains. Tailor made for a modern spread attack that wants to push the pace and constantly challenge defenses.ā€

Despite his USC commitment, Lewisā€™s visits to other schools, including Colorado last month, have fueled speculation of a potential decommitment.

Notably, Colorado has become a fierce competitor in the recruitment of high school talent under head coach Deion Sanders.

In fact, there were some who thought it was a foregone conclusion that Lewis would flip his commitment to Sanders and the Buffs.

While he may still end up doing that, Kirby Smart and the mighty Bulldogs certainly cannot be overlooked.

The timing of Lewis’ visit to Athens is particularly interesting, given USCā€™s struggles on the field and recent challenges with NCAA compliance.

It’s no secret that Lincoln Riley’s reputation as a quarterback-whisperer has taken a hit. His tenure with the Trojans has been a massive disappointment and will most likely cost him Lewis.

Still, USCā€™s 2025 recruiting class ranks in the nationā€™s top ten, and the Trojans are keen to retain their star recruits.

For Riley and the Trojans, keeping Lewis would provide a cornerstone around which they can build a stronger future.

However, the competition for his services is heating up with both Colorado and Georgia very much in the mix.

When it’s all said and done, where do you think Lewis will end up???
