The Colorado Buffaloes, under the leadership of head coach Deion Sanders, are very much alive in the college football playoff picture.
With Colorado’s victory over Texas Tech on Saturday, the Buffs find themself in a solid position to compete in the Big 12 Championship Game – and perhaps even vie for a spot in the expanded postseason field.
If the Buffaloes keep up their winning streak, the Big 12 title game is within reach.
The buzz around Deion Sanders’ success extends beyond just game-day performance, as recruiting momentum for Colorado is now gaining serious traction.
Five-star quarterback Julian Lewis, who is currently committed to USC, has been spotted making multiple visits to Boulder, sparking speculation about his possible future with Colorado.
According to reports, a switch in commitment could be imminent.
A source cited by the College Transfer Portal noted, “Sources tell me that 5-star QB Julian Lewis will flip from USC to Colorado. Announcement coming soon.”
Lewis’ potential decision to join Sanders’ program would be a major win for Colorado’s recruiting.
Other insiders are beginning to see the writing on the wall, too.
Tom Loy, a 247Sports analyst, recently shared his prediction, known as a “crystal ball” pick, for Lewis to flip to Colorado.
“I hinted at it on our Recruiting Show Friday, but decided to roll with it tonight. I’m putting in a #247Sports #CrystalBall flip pick for #USC #Top247 QB commit Julian Lewis to eventually land at #Colorado.” Loy posted on X.
Adding to Colorado’s possible recruitment triumphs, On3 experts recently predicted that four-star offensive tackle Carde Smith could also flip his commitment from USC to Colorado.
Should both Lewis and Smith end up joining the Buffaloes, Deion Sanders would secure two of the most highly sought-after talents in the nation.
Lewis, who reclassified to the Class of 2025, has been excelling for Carrolton High School, showcasing the skills that have made him a top-tier recruit.
With Shedeur Sanders headed to the NFL Draft after this season, the timing could be perfect for Lewis to step into the starting quarterback role at Colorado, possibly as early as next season.
All signs seem to indicate that Sanders and the Buffaloes could soon welcome Lewis to the program.
It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season turns out for the Buffs. As excited as their fans are right now, making the playoffs may prove to be too big of an ask for Sanders’ team.
Having said that, the future seems to be getting brighter in Boulder.
Do you believe the reports that Lewis will soon announce his intention to flip his commitment from USC to Colorado???
