Ohio State Suffers Yet Another Major Roster Blow

Ohio State football fans are expressing frustration after the Buckeyes received one of the toughest paths in the upcoming College Football Playoff.

OSU fans are still in a bad mood thanks to their nightmare loss against the rival Michigan Wolverines.

Knowing how much that loss cost them when it came to seeding and playoff path has poured extra salt on the wound.

Adding to the frustration is the news that backup quarterback Devin Brown, a former five-star recruit, plans to enter the transfer portal after the postseason.

According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Brown, a junior ranked fifth among quarterbacks in the 2022 recruiting class, has confirmed he will remain with the Buckeyes through the playoff run but intends to play elsewhere for the 2025 season.

In a way, Brown deserves credit for sticking with the team throughout the duration of the playoff run. (But then again, how could anyone actually leave?)

This season, Brown completed 10 passes for 108 yards and one touchdown while serving as Will Howard’s backup.

The Buckeyes appear to have a clear succession plan, potentially centering on Julian Sayin to follow Howard, making Brown’s decision to transfer logical.

For now, however, the 21-year-old is determined to contribute from the sidelines, doing what he can to help Ohio State chase a national title.

(The Good Old Days)

That path will be anything but easy.

Ohio State’s loss to Michigan in the regular season finale pushed the team into a grueling playoff bracket.

The Buckeyes must first defeat Tennessee on Saturday, Dec. 21, to advance to the Rose Bowl against No. 1 Oregon on New Year’s Day.

Surviving this gauntlet could lead to a clash with Texas and, eventually, a national championship game against Georgia or another elite team.

Head coach Ryan Day faces the unenviable task of guiding his squad through what many view as one of the most challenging playoff roads ever.

What are your thoughts on Brown’s decision to transfer?

Should Ohio State fans be disappointed that he didn’t want to stick around and compete for the starting job next season?

More importantly, what’s your prediction for the Buckeyes in the playoffs???
