Quinshon Judkins, the promising rookie running back for the Cleveland Browns, finds himself in a troubling situation following his arrest for domestic violence. The incident reportedly took place at Fort Lauderdale International Airport on July 7, when an argument turned physical. According to the arrest report, Judkins’ girlfriend accused him of striking her in the mouth and chin during the altercation. She also claims that later, while they were in the car, Judkins hit her again on her left arm and thigh. These accounts were supported by photographs she provided to the authorities.

In a twist of emotions, the victim disclosed that she initially refrained from calling 911 due to the “recent success” Judkins was experiencing in his burgeoning NFL career. Just a few months earlier, Judkins had been a celebrated second-round draft pick for the Browns, coming off the back of an illustrious college stint. After two years at Ole Miss, he transferred to Ohio State, amassing over 1,060 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns, playing a pivotal role in leading the Buckeyes to a national championship victory over Notre Dame.

On Sunday, a photo of Judkins at his court appearance quickly spread across the internet. The 21-year-old posted a $2,500 bond and was instructed by the court to have no contact with the alleged victim. This development has cast a shadow over the Browns’ plans, where Judkins was slated to take over as the number one running back following Nick Chubb’s move to the Houston Texans in free agency.

The Browns have issued a statement acknowledging the situation, mentioning they are currently “gathering information.” In the NFL, domestic violence charges carry a minimum six-game suspension, which could have significant implications for Cleveland’s offensive plans under head coach Kevin Stefanski. Without Judkins on the field, the Browns may need to rely more heavily on veteran Jerome Ford, who has led the team in rushing the past two years, along with rookie Dylan Sampson, a promising fourth-round draft pick.

As the Browns organization and fans await further developments, the focus will be both on the legal proceedings and the NFL’s response regarding Judkins’ future in the league.
