Deebo Samuel Is Headed to Jacksonville

Man, the 49ers had a rough 2024 season. It seemed like everything that could go wrong, did go wrong. Injuries piled up, Deebo Samuel struggled, and they finished with a disappointing 6-11 record. It’s a far cry from their Super Bowl appearance just a year earlier.

And speaking of Deebo, it sounds like his time in San Francisco might be coming to an end. He’s reportedly asked for a trade, and the 49ers are listening to offers.

Now, Deebo’s not the same explosive player he was a few years ago. Injuries have taken a toll, and his production has dipped. But he’s still a talented receiver who can make plays, and someone will definitely take a chance on him.

I think the Jacksonville Jaguars could be a perfect landing spot. They’ve got a new head coach in Liam Coen, and he’s looking for weapons to help Trevor Lawrence. Brian Thomas Jr. had a great rookie season, but they need more firepower on offense.

Deebo could be that missing piece. He’s a versatile player who can line up in the slot or out wide, and he’s a threat to take it to the house every time he touches the ball. Coen could use him in a similar way to how he used Chris Godwin in 2024, creating mismatches and getting Deebo in space.

Plus, it wouldn’t cost the Jaguars a ton to get him. He’s approaching 30 and in the final year of his contract, so the 49ers might be willing to let him go for a day three pick or two.

If I’m the Jaguars, I’m making that call. Deebo could be the spark they need to take their offense to the next level and make a playoff push. It’s a low-risk, high-reward move that could pay off big time.
