Dak Prescott Makes Shocking Admission On Cowboys Future

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott engaged in his annual one-on-one interviews with DFW television stations on Thursday, with his contract situation taking center stage.

Entering the final year of his current contract, Prescott holds significant leverage thanks to no-trade and no-tag clauses, allowing him to dictate his future as a potential free agent.

During the session, Prescott admitted that his days wearing the famous Cowboy star may be coming to an end.

“Having a kid, your perspective changes a little bit in life,” Prescott remarked. “A lot of quarterbacks have [played for other teams]. That’s just the business and nature of this game.

“That’s just me not being naive to that. It’s not something I look for, or prepare, even plan for, but if something like that happens, I’ll certainly be ready for it.”

Earlier this week, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones revealed that the team had recently extended a new contract offer to Prescott’s representatives.

Reports suggest that a deal is unlikely to materialize without an average annual salary of around $60 million.

Despite the challenges, both sides have expressed a mutual desire to secure a long-term agreement to keep Prescott in Dallas.

“I’ve got a ton of confidence [the sides can agree to a long-term deal], but honestly, it’s not something I think about,” Prescott added.

“I’m here in training camp and focused on this year. I’m on a contract for this year and that’s all I really care about.”

Prescott is coming off a stellar season, where he finished second in MVP voting to Lamar Jackson. He led the NFL in completions (410) and touchdown passes (36), amassing 4,516 passing yards.

Now entering his ninth season, Prescott ranks among the most accomplished quarterbacks in Cowboys history, yet he still seeks his first Super Bowl title and even a berth in the NFC Championship Game.

We all know the book on Prescott and it’s up to him to change the narrative. While he’s been a very successful regular season quarterback, he has routinely struggled in the postseason.

Reflecting on his goals for the upcoming season, Prescott stated, “The experience that I’ve had, the confidence that I have in myself, this team, the knowledge has grown. I’m at my best and only getting better.”

Whether that confidence materializes into actual results on the field remains to be seen.

What are your thoughts on Dak’s situation?

Is this his final year in a Cowboys uniform???
