Colts’ Jim Irsay Faces Treatment for Severe Respiratory Illness

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay is currently undergoing treatment for a severe respiratory illness, the team announced on Tuesday. As a consequence, the 64-year-old owner will be absent from the Irsay Collection event in Los Angeles this week, where he would typically appear with his band.

The team assured that Irsay is receiving excellent care and is eager to return to the stage as soon as possible. However, they emphasized that no additional information will be provided at this time, urging the public to respect Irsay’s privacy during his recovery.

Known for his public presence, Irsay has been notably absent in recent weeks. While it remains unclear whether he attended recent Colts games, his usual appearances in postgame locker room scenes and coach Shane Steichen’s speeches have been notably absent from the team’s social media posts.

Irsay, who has faced various health challenges in recent years, including surgeries for powerlifting injuries, has maintained an active schedule, traveling for his Irsay Collection events and spending extended periods in Southern California. Despite mobility issues from surgeries, he has consistently participated in the traveling museum showcasing his nearly 500-piece collection of historic artifacts.

The renowned collection focuses on music, pop culture, and American history, with Irsay’s investments totaling tens of millions of dollars. The exhibition is set to take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, where Irsay has never missed an exhibition, usually joining the Jim Irsay Band for accompanying concerts. The current health setback marks a pause in Irsay’s energetic engagement with his passion for preserving and sharing cultural history.
