The debate over which college football program is “Wide Receiver U” is heating up, with LSU and Ohio State emerging as the top contenders. Both schools have a strong track record of producing elite wide receiver talent that has gone on to have success in the NFL.
Chris Olave, a former Ohio State receiver now playing for the New Orleans Saints, recently weighed in on the debate, declaring that his alma mater is still WRU. He pointed to the Buckeyes’ consistent production of first-round draft picks at the position, including himself, Garrett Wilson, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and Marvin Harrison Jr.
However, LSU has a strong case as well. They’ve produced some of the NFL’s top receivers in recent years, including Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and, more recently, Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. These receivers have not only been drafted high but have also made a significant impact in the league.
So, which school deserves the title of WRU? It depends on what you value more: consistent production of high-draft picks or the development of top-tier, game-changing receivers. Both LSU and Ohio State have strong arguments, and the debate is likely to continue for years to come.
