The situation surrounding Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy has taken a new turn with a Texas judge granting a protective order to the woman who accused him of assault. This development comes after the district attorney initially declined to pursue charges following Worthy’s arrest last week.
Tia Jones, through her attorneys, confirmed the protective order and stated her full cooperation with law enforcement’s ongoing investigation. Her legal team emphasized her decision to speak out and seek justice through the legal process.
Worthy’s arrest stemmed from an accusation of assault on a family or household member, specifically involving impeding breath, or choking. He was released after the district attorney’s office, upon reviewing witness statements, decided not to accept the case at that time.
Worthy’s attorneys, however, maintain his innocence, claiming the accuser, who had been living in his home, made the allegations after being asked to leave due to infidelity. They further allege she damaged his property and physically assaulted him. They also stated that Worthy did not want to press charges against the woman.
The Chiefs organization has acknowledged the situation and is continuing to gather information. Worthy, a key player for the team, was drafted last year and had a productive season, contributing significantly to the Chiefs’ offensive efforts. He had a standout performance in the Super Bowl, despite the loss.
