BREAKING: Surprising Details After New York Jets Release Running Back Michael Carter

Following a disheartening loss on Sunday night, the New York Jets found themselves at the center of intriguing developments, involving a players-only meeting and the unexpected release of running back Michael Carter.

The twist in the narrative occurred on Tuesday afternoon when the Jets decided to waive the third-year running back. The move reportedly left the Jets’ locker room in a state of disbelief, especially considering the timing right after a players-only meeting held following Sunday’s 16-12 road defeat against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Wide receiver Garrett Wilson shed light on the meeting during an appearance on the ESPN New York program “Bart & Hahn.” According to Wilson, the players took the opportunity to address the team’s current status and ensure alignment in their approach: “The guys talked, and we had the floor. It was just us. We got to make sure we’re all on the same page about where we’re at…That was really the message. When it comes from one of your teammates, it always hits different. It always resonates a little bit more.”

The unexpected turn of events continued as Carter was released mere hours after the players-only meeting. This decision evidently caught the locker room off guard, with offensive lineman Mekhi Becton expressing his sorrow over Carter’s departure in a pair of tweets.

Michael Carter, drafted by the Jets in the fourth round (107th overall) in 2021, had an impressive rookie season despite the team’s struggles. In his debut year, he accumulated 639 rushing yards and four touchdowns, contributing a total of 964 offensive yards. However, the coaching staff, led by head coach Robert Saleh, opted for offensive changes as they navigate through the absence of Aaron Rodgers. Breece Hall now assumes the lead role as the primary running back, while offseason free agent acquisition Dalvin Cook and rookie Abanikanda are expected to see increased playing time.

The Jets are slated to face AFC East rival Buffalo Bills this coming Sunday afternoon, providing an opportunity for the team to regroup and respond to the recent developments.
