Baltimore Ravens Make Playoff Roster Adjustment, Release Veteran Running Back

The Baltimore Ravens, no strangers to running back injuries, have made a surprising move just before the playoffs, releasing third-year running back Jake Funk. In a corresponding move, the Ravens signed wide receiver Dan Chisena to their practice squad.

The official announcement from the team stated, “We have signed WR Dan Chisena to the Practice Squad and released RB Jake Funk.”

Funk, who had played four games for the Indianapolis Colts earlier in the year, managed 38 snaps between offense and special teams, tallying three touches for 22 yards. Despite joining the Ravens in late December, Funk had not seen playing time with the team.

The Ravens’ current backfield lineup includes Gus Edwards, Melvin Gordon, and Justice Hill on the active roster, while Dalvin Cook and rookie Owen Wright reside on the practice squad.

As the Ravens head into the playoffs and eye a potential Super Bowl run, the question lingers: Do they have enough talent in the backfield to secure postseason success?
