Denver Broncos Release Team Captain After Embarrassing Loss To Patriots

The Denver Broncos have taken an unexpected step following their disappointing loss to the New England Patriots.

During the Christmas Eve matchup, the Broncos initially took a 7-0 lead but then allowed the Patriots to score 23 consecutive points. Although they managed to tie the game in the fourth quarter, a late Patriots drive led to a game-winning field goal.

In the aftermath of this defeat, the Broncos have decided to waive one of their team captains, Kareem Jackson. However, it is anticipated that Jackson will be re-signed to the practice squad for the remainder of the season once he clears waivers.

Broncos reporter Parker Gabriel confirmed this move, stating, “#Broncos are indeed releasing veteran S Kareem Jackson today. Assuming he clears waivers, the plan is to bring him back to the practice squad for the final two weeks. Sounds like it’s been an ongoing conversation in recent days.”

Denver had shown signs of a potential playoff run after a challenging start to the season, winning five consecutive games to reach a 6-5 record. However, they have stumbled in three of their last four games, dimming their postseason prospects significantly, especially as they approach a pivotal divisional matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
