Aaron Judge Backs Cross-Town Rival After Interesting Comments From Juan Soto

Aaron Judge took the high road while still standing up for his fellow slugger — and subtly correcting the narrative.

After Juan Soto referred to Judge as “the best hitter in baseball” and said things were different this year without him hitting behind him, some fans thought Soto was unintentionally throwing shade at Pete Alonso. That didn’t sit right, especially considering Alonso’s red-hot start to 2025.

Judge, being both respectful and real, responded by reminding everyone just how good Alonso has been.

“Soto’s got probably one of the best hitters in the game behind him right now with what Pete Alonso’s doing,” Judge said.

Alonso’s numbers back that up: a .356 average, five home runs, and a 1.195 OPS. He’s doing everything possible to give Soto protection in the lineup.

Judge also showed support for Soto, who’s off to a slower start but remains productive.

“Just keep being himself and he’s going to be just fine,” Judge added, pointing to his own slow April last year as an example.

Bottom line: Judge defended Alonso’s elite performance, supported Soto’s potential bounce-back, and stayed classy in the process. That’s captain behavior.
